Indian Dance Group MAYURI - AshtaLakshmi Ashta Lakshmi stotra This dance is dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and consort of Lord Vishnu, and to her eight forms. The central character of this dance is Mahalakshmi, and every dancer appearing on stage is personifying the bhakt (devotee) of the particular form of Lakshmi the dancer talking about. Everyone's dupatta is iteratively embroidered by the name of presented form of the Goddess. Coming into this material word, the bhakt is representing the pattern of worshiping one, who is not different from the object of worship, and finally merges with it. All forms of the Goddess have 4 or 6 or 8 hands, currying particular things, describing this form. For example the lotus flower as a symbol of beauty and purity, or a shield and a sword, when we are talking about the Mother, who protects her child. The first form - Adi Lakshmi, lives with Lord Narayana on Vaikuntha and serves Him with unlimited devotion of loving wife. The second form is Dhanya Lakshmi. Because of her mercy a man gets food. The third form -- Dherya Lakshmi. She gifts unlimited courage, power and inner stability Prosperity and protection of evil energy is a gift from Gaja Lakshmi, who is always represented with 2 elephants behind her, currying beautiful pitchers of milk and pouring it out on Lakshmi. The fifth form is Santan Lakshmi. In the family life the children is a great treasure. The devotee of this form gets beloved, healthy and long living kids. The sixth form is Vijaya Lakshmi.Vijaya means victory, that's why people, who have blessing of Vijaya Lakshmi, win anywhere, anytime, in any condition. Vidya Lakshmi -- the Goddess, who gifts mercy as knowledge, afflatus, realizing of devotion truth. And the eighth form is Dhana Lakshmi. She is represented strewing money. She is elusive and changeable. Many people in chase of material wealth worship this form, but Dhana Lakshmi is wayward and capricious.
