HFSS Tutorial: Breast Tumor Detection by Electromagnetic Signal and Microstrip Patch Antenna in HFSS

Detecting breast tumor using electromagnetic signal and patch antennas is discussed and is practically demonstrated using ANSYS HFSS. A breast phantom with skin, fat, and fibro-glandular layers with a tumor cell is designed in HFSS from scratch. The permittivity and tangent loss of breast tissue is provided as well for EM model. Two antennas act as sensors. The magnitude of transmission coefficient S21 is then observed with respect to tumor size, and location. The entire design is parameterized in HFSS.
