What do Icelanders Eat? Exploring Hot Dogs, Bakeries, Fine Dining and Home Cooking in Reykjavik

First off, we owe big thanks to Jim Petkiewicz, Cat Bordhi and Community Links International for organizing and hosting this trip to Iceland. We can't wait to share many more videos of our adventures with this incredible group. If you love to eat as much as we do, Iceland might just be your new best friend. This beautiful country is bursting with culinary treats. We arrived in mid-January during some of the darkest, coldest days of the year. Good food seems to be what keeps smiles on peoples' faces when the weather feels downright inhospitable. For our full two weeks in Iceland, we didn't have a bad meal. Food is taken seriously here--street food, fine dining and casual lunches all share a high standard of quality. Maybe you had a bad meal here? We'd be really curious to know if you did. But we bet it probably wasn't truly bad--maybe you just got spoiled comparing excellent meal after excellent meal? That's our experience, at least. Here's a list of the restaurants we visit in this video: 1. Reykjavik Roasters (Coffee shop with some pastries in the downtown area) https://reykjavikroasters.is/ 2. Brauð & Co. (Bakery with multiple locations across Reykjavik. We visited the shop on Frakkastígur) https://braudogco.is/ 3. 'Murica (Hot dog stand serving Icelandic and vegan dogs) No website--we found it catty corner to eastern side of Lake Tjornin on Laekjargata Street. 4. Snaps Bistro (Fine dining serving brunch, lunch and dinner also in downtown) https://www.snaps.is/ 5. Eldsmiðjan (Freshly made pizzas--where we met our new knitting friend, Tina! Downtown Reykjavik) https://www.eldsmidjan.is/ 6. Brikk (Cafe on the water in Hafnarfirði. There's also another location in Reykjavik) https://brikk.is/ Also, big thanks to our new Icelandic friends, Matti and Huldi. They prepared a feast and graciously allowed us to invade their home with our camera. We had a fantastic afternoon with you all. Icelandic hospitality at its finest. Thanks for joining us as we munch our way around Reykjavik. Do you have other favorite spots that we didn't mention? Leave your recommendations in the comments below so other travelers can benefit!
