The focus is always on the individual, my most important and unique skill as a coach is, being able to adapt to the personal learning preference of every participant. Using my extensive collection of trainingexercises, I’m always able to maximize trainingeffect for the individual skater. Transcript: { 0:00 } Hi everyone, it's time for another analysis video of a skater who participated in the Inzell Summer Training camp. In this video we will watch the progress Christian made during this training week. As with all participating skaters, I also made some notes about Christian's technique. after the first day on the ice and watching the same fragment we are watching now. First thing we notice is the dropping of the recovery leg and hip and locking it against the pushing leg. The weight transfer is accomplished by moving the leg, only the leg, when you would like to shift your weight from the hips, from the center of gravity. His propulsion entirely comes from working the legs. Especially in the corner, we can see how he only works with his legs instead of using his body weight to build pressure into the ice. { 0:55 } So during the week we worked on getting the body weight on top of the pushing leg and build pressure into the ice from there. To accomplish this we started from the bottom up. So first working on the basic position, the bending of the ankle, getting the ankle in closed back position. The next aspect to work on is, bringing the recovery leg and hip up over and on top of the pushing leg. Now the pressure from the center of gravity through the pushing leg into the ice is optimal. Tipping over to the opposite side while holding the weight on the pushing leg gives the forward momentum. This is the essence of effective speed skating. Of course, there are a few other aspects to work on which help improve the entire movement. As we can see in fragments from later that week, Christian is getting the body weight more on top of the pushing leg. { 1:59 } It lets him stay on the push longer. Now, by being patient during the movement, he gets a lot more speed just from waiting while being on the pushing leg and then placing the next skate gently on the ice.
