Oak Hill International Garden Build

On June 1, 2013 staff, parents, and students at Oak Hill Elementary School in High Point, North Carolina partnered with FoodCorps to build a new garden and outdoor classroom. After two years of science and nutrition classes using the old garden, a small, shady space located between two buildings, the school decided to expand the space to make it more accessible and to reflect the diversity of the student body. Now over the summer, families can visit the garden to harvest bitter gourd from Pakistan, Jalapeños from Mexico, Okra from Congo, and purple yard long beans from Burma.
