Although Archers of Loaf have played a few shows here and there and have put out a handful of new songs over the last decade, they finally came out of studio hibernation in a major way with their excellent "Reason in Decline" album. I was lucky enough to catch the band over three nights on this tour at Mississippi Studios in Portland (Feb 10 & 11), and Neumo's in Seattle (Feb 12). I only got to see the Archers once in their 90s heyday and it was fabulous to reconnect with these fine gentlemen nearly three decades later. AoL are a force of nature and have to be seen live. Matt is a bit of a Tasmanian devil on bass and hearing the twisting guitars live is a real treat. Many, many thanks to Kiersten, my balcony mate at this show who also hooked me up with a ticket for the second night in Portland. Also, a hello to Scott from Victoria, who sat beside me on the pews on night two! Mississippi Studios is such a beautiful and cozy venue. p.s. My apologies for the mess at the end. The video file got corrupted and luckily I was able to salvage most of the footage although there is some glitchiness at the end after "Telepathic traffic". Thankfully, all the old chestnuts are there, including "Harnessed in slums", "Web in front", and "Dead red eyes". I think I got most of the concert, though I believe they closed the set with "Slow worm", which does not appear in this video. p.p.s.
