Exploring Lake Gosau, Austria (Gosausee & Gosaukammbahn & Zwieselalm)

Lake Gosau is one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria. It is located in Gosau in Upper Austria. If you are not driving, you can take bus 542 to Lake Gosau. Lake Gosau is the last bus stop. The bus ride takes about an hour from Bad Ischl. There are no boat tours. You can walk along the lake to reach all the way to Upper Lake Gosau (Vorderer Gosausee). No bikes allowed. The hike takes about 2 hours one way. There is also a small lake along the way called Gosaulacke. At the end of the hiking trail, there is a small cafeteria called “Holzmeister Alm” which is a few steps away from the upper lake. After you finish your roundtrip hike, you can have a nice dinner at Gasthof Gosausee. The outdoor dining area offers a gorgeous view of Lake Gosau. Before you start your Gosausee hike, I recommend you take Gosaukamm cable car to go up and explore Zwieselalm mountain. There are 2 cafeterias at the top of the mountain; (Breining Hütte and Gablonzer Hütte).
