About the soloist: Ben Benders (Steyl, 1955) is a Dutch bass-baritone, conductor and pianist, who studied piano and voice at the Maastricht Conservatoire, graduating in 1981, after which he continued his voice studies with Elisabeth Cooymans in 's Hertogenbosch. He worked as a teacher of piano and voice at the music school of Tegelen and later Venlo, has over 40 years of experience as a choral conductor, and has performed both nationally and internationally with Lieder recitals, choir concerts as well as as an oratorio soloist, including taking on the role of Jesus in Bach's St. Matthew's Passion (1998) and conducting the choir at the Passiespelen, Tegelen from 2005 to 2021.
