Cobus - TRIBUTE, Part I (2008)

Get my NEW LESSON PACK here --- http://bit.ly/CobusLessons - - - Laus Deo Semper http://www.CobusPotgieter.com   / deedlebag   This is a Tribute. Dedicated to just a few of the bands that had such an incredibly big effect and influence on my love for music and drumming. For the record, the first song I EVER played on a drumkit, was Sweetness from Jimmy Eat World, way back middle 2002. (The video was initially removed because LINKIN PARK - FAINT was tagged due to copyright constraints. I got it back up after disputing the copyright claim, as this cover renders the original song useless for third-part copying.) This Tribute is a compliation of (sometimes only pieces of) the following songs: Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness Blink-182 - Anthem Pt. II Blink-182 - First Date Box Car Racer - There Is Blink-182 - I Miss You Biffy Clyro - 57 Linkin Park - Faint Dream Theatre - New Millennium Dream Theatre - Fatal Tragedy Liquid Tension Experiment - Universal Mind Dream Theater - Octavarium The set follows my drumming journey from pop-punk to the more complicated and heavier stuff. I remember thinking I would NEVER be able to play the 3/8 variation in New Millennium, so it was SO much fun to out in this compilation, and to be forced to learn to play it. I have to emphasize, I know saying I "cover" these songs is wrong, seeing as I only PARTLY stayed true to the song's drums (or lack thereof), through the WHOLE set I play some variations of the beats, phrasing and fills, since 99% of what I play is improvised. Even though I have done my fair share of session and studio drumming, that has little to zero effect on these video's, I kind of see them as live performances. I'm NOT aiming to be accurate to the original drums, I'm just aiming to enjoy myself. And I thoroughly succeeded in doing that, might I add :) Al material contained herein are the copyrighted property of it's owner(s). (External) Drums by Cobus Potgieter.
