I Am Not A Crook [original synthwave to celebrate 100+ subscribers]

A little treat for the boutique audience I've been collecting over the years, and a demonstration that it's not that I can't write catchy pop music, it's that I generally choose not to. It's an attempt to write a song about the fall from power of Richard Nixon (a searingly contemporary reference, I know) told from his perspective, framed as a kind of messy break-up song. Yes, that is quite high-concept. Yes, it has the word "defenestration" in it. Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy it, and thanks for your support over the last few years. I wrote the lyrics a fair while ago for a rock song, but for this version had some assistance from #SunoAI which - after, I'll be honest, quite a lot of takes - helped put the music, vocals, etc, together. I'm not entirely sure if this kind of AI music is the work of the Lord or the work of the Devil, but it's definitely entertaining. I don't think it's likely to be able to replace my "normal" sort of output, but if it breaks up the pop music industry then I think it's basically a victimless crime. For the video, it's still a lot of Magic - but this time built around various relevant free clips I found around the place. To be honest it's a lot more work than usual, and where I'm not totally convinced that matches to a real improvement in quality I'll most likely return to the "old" way of making videos in future. I'll go back to the usual music soon enough, though may occasionally dip into similarly generated stuff in future. Peace and love, Joel
