Michelin Star CHINESE DIM SUM in Manhattan - 13 Chinese Dishes | NYC

🧳 MING & BEN:   / thebingbuzz   🎥 THEBINGBUZZ:    / thebingbuzz   🥟 TIM HO WAN:   / timhowanusa   Some of you guys know that I absolutely love Chinese food, especially dim sum! One of the best spots in New York City to get some is Tim Ho Wan, a Michelin-star-rated restaurant in Manhattan, so I knew I had to check it out! Come with me as I dive into the world of Chinese dim sum in Manhattan, NYC! My friends Ming and Ben from The Bing Buzz joined me on this epic food adventure. Tim Ho Wan started in Hong Kong in 2009 as a small eatery. It got its Michelin star one year later, and now, it has expanded all over the world! 👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/davids-b... ✈️ CHECK OUT MY TRAVEL BLOG: https://davidsbeenhere.com/ Dim sum consists of small plates of bite-sized dishes. But first, we started with some Hong Kong-style milk tea. It’s very concentrated and is a popular drink throughout the day in Hong Kong. It was somewhat similar to Indian chai but was also a little different. It’s a British influence! We ordered 13 dishes, including shu mai, spring rolls, chicken feet, shrimp rice rolls, and more! We started with the barbecued pork buns. I love pork buns and ate them every day on my first trip to China, but this one was very different. It was flaky on the outside and sweeter than I expected! I loved the barbecue sauce inside and was almost like a dessert! Next were the shrimp chive dumplings, which were full of chunky shrimp and delicious chives. The dough was thin and the dish had an excellent mouth feel! Then, we jumped on the shrimp & pork shumai, which are open-top dumplings, and har gao. The shrimp & pork shumai were moist and sticky and excellent with the soy sauce and chili sauce. The meat inside was nice and juicy and I loved the thin rice dough. The shrimp har gao were also incredible. I loved them! Next, we jumped on the shrimp eggplant. It was silky and buttery with nice, chunky shrimp, and had a nice crispness to it. I was in love! We followed the eggplant with Fèng Zhuǎ, also known as chicken feet and phoenix claws! They come soaked in a dark sauce and you bite the meat off, one joint at a time and spit out the bones. It’s fat, skin, and tendons, but is a delicacy. It’s very tasty and they say it’s good for your skin! Then, we had the shrimp rolls, which contain scallions, bean sprouts, and of course, shrimp! It’s Ben’s favorite and was one of mine, too. It was spongy, light, and easy to eat. I loved it with the chili sauce. Next was the lotus leaf with sticky rice inside. The rice is so sticky, it clings to the leaf. It also contains pork, mushrooms, and shrimp. The earthiness of the lotus leaf gets infused into the rice and gives it an amazing flavor! We followed that with bean curd rolls with shrimp. It was so good with the spicy chili sauce and was chewy, juicy, and full of delicious shrimp! The braised pork ribs with black beans and sweet sauce were super meaty, tender, and fatty. I loved the juiciness! Next was congee, which is essentially a sticky rice porridge with a consistency similar to oatmeal. It was a bit slimy and contained some preserved eggs. It’s very filling and surprisingly flavorful! Overall, the shrimp rice rolls were my favorite. What an incredible night of eating Michelin-star dim sum in Manhattan, NYC! Where have you been?
