Get well soon KJ Former Penn State wide receiver KJ Hamler will miss the rest of the Denver Broncos season after he suffered a season-ending knee injury, the team announced Monday. ESPN reported Hamler tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Sunday’s 26-0 Broncos win over the New York Jets. Hamler, 22, had five catches for 74 yards so far this season, including one catch for 28 yards against the Jets. The Broncos selected Hamler out of Penn State with the No. 46 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft because of Hamler’s ability to stretch defenses with his blazing speed. Over two seasons at Penn State — Hamler redshirted as a true freshman in 2017 — Hamler caught 98 passes for 1,658 yards (16.9 yards per catch) and 13 touchdowns. He was a true home run threat for quarterbacks Trace McSorley and Sean Clifford during his time with the Nittany Lions. As a rookie in 2020, Hamler caught 30 passes for 381 yards (12.7 yards per catch) and three touchdowns. Hamler teased his big-play ability last month with an 80-yard touchdown catch in the preseason opener.
