Yamadori Bonsai Hunt...Douglas Fir and Western Hemlock....Tsuga heterophylla/ Pseudotsuga menziesii

hi Well, the weather has been improving to some degree which means I can get back out on my mountain bike a bit more. Incorporating two of my hobbies at the same time works well in this case. In this video I show you guys two yamadori trees that I discovered and will be collecting next Winter. I also have footage of stuff from the garden that I was going to upload before this video, but..... First, I just wanted to share this ride out and the two great bits of yamadori I found on the way. I will endeavour to upload the other footage in the coming week....This edge of the forest gets the full force of nature and is a great place to find usable yamadori material that nature has created all by itself...or that has just been mangled when the machines are in clear felling. All of which makes for great "Potensai". Don't panic ! I have been back with some cut sealant and applied cut paste to the Fir the following day....(maybe do a mid Summer check up video on this tree) The two oaks from previous videos are starting to push out new growth (next video) and everything is coming back into life, all be it a little late this year ! The collected yamadori beech is already out in leaf and looking good. (In an upcoming video) Busy Busy Busy ! Thanks for watching/commenting/subscribing ! Cheers ,Chris..Temple Arts Bonsai. Common name: Western Hemlock Scientific name: Tsuga heterophylla, Family:Pinaceae There are 10 species of Hemlocks worldwide, but this is the one we are most likely to see (in the UK). The trees are called Hemlocks because, when crushed, the needles release a smell similar to that released by the poisonous herb Hemlock. The latin family name Tsuga is Japanese for Hemlock. Common name: Douglas Fir Scientific name: Pseudotsuga menziesii, Family: Pinaceae Douglas fir is native to North America but was brought to the UK in 1827 by botanist David Douglas and it can now be found in a variety of habitats, including open forests with plenty of moss and rainy conditions. It thrives in western areas of the UK, where rainfall is higher. Music All music is by and is used with kind permission from Loose Kins
