Legendary Hard Rock Band PISSED OFF Fans With This 80s Hit... | Professor Of Rock

Gun N’ Roses had just come off a massive album that shook the world called Appetite for Destruction with a batch of controversial heavy rock songs that had parents and teachers in an uproar and teenagers hanging on their every word. Every one was fired up about their upcoming material. .. Surprisingly, it ended up being a sensitive, kind-hearted song about being tolerant and understanding… What? It was a song that traded in face melting riffs for soft and affectionate acoustic sentiment called Patience… It became a huge hit even though the lead singer hated his vocal on it, and everyone’s still trying to figure out who it’s really about. Up next Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff Mckagen and the great Slash on the song that got me grounded and punched in the stomach... Find out next on professor of rock brought to you by Zenni Eyewear. Speaking of a tender ballad and Guns N’ Roses in the same breath is quite an oxymoron. Just as the name of the band is. The idea that the world’s most notorious thrash band could craft a sensitive, kind-hearted song about being tolerant and understanding seemed ridiculous. Especially after a song like Rocket Queen or Welcome to the Jungle… But in 1988, GNR created such a song entitled “Patience.” Following the gargantuan success of their debut album Appetite for Destruction, GNR began working on LIES, the band’s sophomore album- that stacked up more like an EP- featuring 4 previously released songs, and 4 acoustic styled numbers- led by “Patience.” I have to say that as a kid at 12 years of age, I loved Gun N’ Roses, but they also scared the heck out of me. It was like watching a perfect horror movie, you’re completely terrified, but you’re also absolutely enthralled. At their peak and even after, GNR was one of those unique bands that kept you on the edge of your seat, they kept you guessing. Well GNR lies scared me. The album cover is ultra thrilling with the headlines and it also included thrilling songs like your crazy and of course I used to Love her the murder ballad that says I used to love her, but I had to kill her which on the surface seems to be about a guy who kills his girlfriend even, though members have said the song is about Axel’s Dog, but still It’s not music for the faint of heart. Appetite and GNR lies were albums that really made you stop and listen and ponder. They created a palpable fervor and excitement within me and my friends that I suppose the Stones did teens in the 60s and Zeppelin and Floyd did for teens in the 70s.
