That was an unforgettable memory, and I experienced listening to Chicago Jazz for the first time. Now, The Back Room is under construction at a new location. [Program Note] The piece consists of three movements. It opens with a brass-driven introduction. The double bass always plays a major role in this piece, especially in the first movement. The contrabass's pizzicato is accompanied by many conversational dialogues between the clarinet and saxophone group and the flute and oboe in the high register. Nothing is definite about this theme, but you can imagine a mosaic of small motifs scattered everywhere. The next two movements are a series of solo melodies with warm brass harmonies. And the last chapter. Jazz is all about four beats. I tend to use four or eight beats in my music. The intro motif appears in many different pitches and shapes.
