Orofacial clefts in Sub-Saharan Africa: Epidemiology, Care and Prevention

Orofacial clefts (OFCs) are relatively common congenital disorders and most individuals could have a good outcome with adequate care, however this is not the reality for many affected individuals in SSA. It truly is a congenital disorder that needs a multidisciplinary team to manage all the surgical and medical needs and therefore the speakers were chosen from diverse medical specialities (plastic surgery, dentistry, audiology, speech therapy, paediatrics, genetics). In addition to sharing their expertise in this field to advance regional healthcare professionals' clinical management, this webinar aims to discuss the challenges and impact that the lack of data on the epidemiology of OFCs in various populations have on service planning and further promote knowledge sharing of local stakeholders on regional successful service development.
