Sub-Zero is the only Mortal Kombat character that has appeared in every main installment of the series. The name/alias 'Sub-Zero' has been used by two of the games fictional characters, both were members of the Lin Kuei. The first was Bi-Han in the original Mortal Kombat. He was killed in the tournament by a vengeful Scorpion. In Mortal Kombat 2, and thereafter, the fighter Sub-Zero was in fact Bi-Han's younger brother Kuai Liang. Bi-Han eventually reappeared in the series as an undead wraith, the character Noob Saibot. The true extent of Sub-Zero's abilities are unclear, but his mastery of martial arts combined with an ability to manipulate ice and cold have made him a formidable fighter. In MK11 Kuai Liang has achieved the rank of Grand Master and heads the Lin Kuei.
