It took 4 years of dreaming, 6 months of planning & gathering supplies, and then two brutal days of riding across 250 miles of open ocean for this moment to happen. We arrived at Allen Cay in the Exumas at approximately 3:00 PM on day 2. I had spent countless hours looking at satellite maps and photographs of the islands so to finally set foot on Allen Cay was a totally surreal experience. After feeding the famous Iguanas and snorkeling we hopped back on the Doo's and headed further South to the infamous island of "Norman's Cay". The island is the former home of cocaine drug lord Carlos Lehder and was once used to facilitate his smuggling operations. Order has long since been restored and the island is home to a small air strip, the Norman's Cay Beach Club also known as MacDuff's, and a few private residences. We rented one of the 3 villas available at MacDuff's which was actually quite comfortable. The MacDuff's bar was also a great place to hangout. Boats and planes would arrive from God knows where and there was always a small but steady assortment of travelers with stories to share.
