Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge Game Sample - Dreamcast

"Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge" is a fun and challenging 3D update (or more like 2.5D update... and probably too tough for little kids) to the classic "Frogger" franchise developed by Blitz Games and published by Hasbro (with credit given to the original creators at Konami), and expands upon the previous 3D Frogger effort, "Frogger" ("Frogger: He's Back!" or "Frogger 3D"). In the game, Frogger or Lillie must rescue baby frogs across thirty tricky levels from Swampy's clutches (who wishes to sell them and the tadpoles as snacks) while avoiding his cohorts and a large variety of traps and obstacles. Throughout the game, you can gain extra abilities, press switches, jump, double jump, slurp up extra goodies, grab coins, and more while finding all the baby frogs needed to clear the level. While the game is 3D, movement is restricted to a preset tile-by-tile basis and you can only move in four directions, with your character occasionally twisting or turning on a level as the dynamics call for it. This was done to have a more old-school feel in the spirit of the original Frogger and works surprisingly well, though the camera or perspective sometimes becomes a bit of an issue. You can also gain special rewards by grabbing all the medals on a level or beating the fastest times, which can further challenge those seeking to get the most out of the game. The game added various extras which can be unlocked as well as multiplayer modes, so there is a fair deal to see and do in the game that should appease fans of Frogger (3D) as well as Frogger rookies and veterans alike. This game was released for PCs, Playstation, and Game Boy Color as well, though the Dreamcast version is one of the nicest looking and sounding ports. This is a video showing some of the game in action. Enjoy.
