The 25mm M242 Bushmaster Autocannon is the main armament of the Light Armoured Vehicle-6 (LAV) platform used in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps (RCAC) and across other Canadian Armed Forces trades including the engineers and infantry. The turreted platform has two ammunition bins that can support the fire of 25mm Armour Piercing, Fin-Stabilised Discarding Sabot rounds, and 25mm High Explosive Incendiary rounds. Additionally, the turret also supports the automatic fire of a C6 GPMG coax and eight 76mm Multi-Barrel Grenade Dischargers (MBGD). A commander’s pintle-mounted C6 GPMG is also available. The STAB Run is a gunnery relay designed to assess the ability of a gunner and a commander to engage and destroy targets while on the move. The STAB Run is completed in an armoured cavalry troop of four callsigns moving simultaneously and engaging targets in depth, first with the coax and finally with the 25mm. Both hard targets and soft targets are engaged, with the commander controlling the type of ammunition to be used. ONWARD!
