Our adventure led us to the Swiss Alps (Saas-Almagell), right along the Italian border, where we sought the solid snow that's ideal for traversing without skis. Our plan was a multi-day hike, with aspirations of conquering summits such as Jazzihorn or Stellihorn. Undertaking a winter hike in these high mountains is akin to an expedition; thorough preparation is paramount. One must be equipped to handle any situation that might arise in such unpredictable terrain. However, the most critical element for our journey was the weather. A favorable forecast is the green light for such endeavors. With our bags packed and spirits high, we eagerly awaited our weather window.
