Steam has returned to the heart of New Zealand's Central Plateau! As part of the Glenbrook Vintage Railway's 'Great North Island Steam Tour' with Steam Incorporated's Ja 1271 and carriages, an excursion was held from Ohakune to Taumarunui and return on the North Island Main Trunk Line, with the highlight of riding up the world famous 'Raurimu Spiral'. The sold out train took place on Saturday 22 October 2022 on a beautiful springs day, with Mount Ruapehu basking in the sunlight for all to see. We take a comprehensive look at this steam train from many different camera angles, including the run up the Raurimu Spiral, which was the location for a special photo run for the paying passengers.
