Jepheth Sterling aka 'Rockin' Ras' is a regular feature at Drifters. He has an absolutely incredible voice. It's shocking this singer is not better known outside of Negril. Some of his 'cover-versions' of popular songs are amazing. Luddy Samms makes sure this artist is always on stage when Drifters is packed full of party'ers. Luddy Samms (one of the great singers to sing with 'The Drifters' in their long, incredibly successful career) hosts & sings at the annual "International Blues on the Beach" festival ...held generally the first Sunday in February at "Drifters Beach Bar" in Negril, Jamaica. Musicians & Singers from Jamaica, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Sweden, Italy and countless other countries perform and sing blues & roots music from 3pm to 10pm ...right smack in the middle of the middle of the best strip of 'Live Beach Music' anywhere in Jamaica...not just here in Negril. Luddy Samms is not only the owner/proprietor and MC of "Drifters" he's the headliner of the show! And man he deserves it! The man's voice is absolutely awesome. We visitors & locals are so lucky to have him up on stage and sharing that 'voice' almost everyday of the week. For me the greatest singers were the absolutely incredible Blues, RnB, Gospel & Soul singers from around 1950-1965 era…and Luddy reminds me of them when he does songs from that era…but he really loves to sing the 'Blues' (which he has told me is really his first love)…but he can sing RnB, Soul and of course Reggae with the best of them... Luddy opened up "Drifters Beach Bar" in Negril, Jamaica in 2012... he has musicians & singers from Jamaica & around the world getting up on stage and playing reggae, blues, some soul, a bit of rock n roll etc...from 3pm - 7pm Fridays & Sundays from November to April every year.
