A Special Celebration of Life was held for Clayton Moore, the Lone Ranger, at The Autry Museum on January 16, 2000. Not only was Clayton Moore the idol of millions of children and adults as the "Masked Man of the Plains," he continued to embody those high moral standards even after retiring from acting the part on film and television. To honor the memory of her Father, Clayton's daughter Dawn asked some friends to share their memories of the man who influenced so many lives. Only a scant few weeks had passed since the death of the actor and humanitarian (Clayton Moore, Sept 14, 1914 - Dec 28, 1999) when an overflow crowd of friends and admirers gathered to pay tribute. We are pleased to present this exclusive video of the event, that was fortunately documented and preserved. It is shown here for his legion of fans. Speakers that day included Clayton's close friend Rand Brooks, LONE RANGER guest star Johnny Crawford, super fan AIex Cord, film historian Leonard Maltin, Dawn Moore, Supervisor Michael Antonovich, and clips and comments from Pat Buttram and Senator Max Cleland, plus Clay's public appearance at the Aug 1999 Golden Boot Awards where he delivers a moving rendition of The Lone Ranger Creed. I was privileged to have been asked by Dawn to be a part of this very special day. I never had to ask, "Who Was That Masked Man," because I knew that there was only one.
