Compared here are trumpet (or cornet) mutes that are intended to drastically reduce volume from the trumpet or cornet. Featured are the following Practice Mutes: Tom Crown, Yamaha's Silent Brass, Brass Spa (PLEASE SEE ADDITIONAL NOTE BELOW ABOUT THIS MUTE), three unnamed (cheap! less than $5 at Ebay) but rather unsuccessful silent mutes and a comparison of a Stonelined and Harmon mute as well. Hope this proves beneficial; as I run across other practice mutes we'll continue the comparisons. Best wishes and blessings ~ Jonathan ADDENDUM RE. BRASS SPA MUTE: I fear I was premature in my assessment of this mute. It must have been a bad fit in the horn I used previously, but intonation with my present horn is quite good! Not the quietest of these mutes it still is a good practice mute, extremely light and very affordable - not a bad option at all (as I'll show in another Youtube vid soon!) thanks for reading...
