I've always had a problem with the way this scene goes, as far as Carth's dialog toward my female PC. It seemed to me that he says the same thing he would have said to a male PC, or if I hadn't bothered to romance him at all. cjt0202's mod makes this scene a LOT better, and I like to think that this is how it was supposed to play out, but there was a bug that didn't allow it to trigger.
