How can we optimize the resources available for xenarthran conservation? With Anderson Feijo

Anderson's talk will explore the past collection efforts in Xenarthra over the last century and show how we can use this information to guide future research and conservation projects. He will also highlight regions that require our immediate conservation attention. Using the Brazilian three-banded armadillo as a case study, Anderson will show ways that can be applied to optimize the limited funds available for conservation of threatened and poorly known xenarthran species. Anderson is Assistant Curator of Mammals at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. He has worked with armadillos for over 10 years, studying the diversity of species and exploring methods to help direct conservation efforts. Anderson is part of the Brazilian National Action Plan focused on three threatened xenarthras: the three-banded armadillo, giant armadillo, and giant anteater.
