Dying once is a tragedy. Dying twice is just cruel. +++++++ Story: To be an Exorcist, there is only one rule that lives with no exception: you must have died through homicide. Any murder victim can join and while a lot don't, there are plenty that forgo therapy and seek retribution instead. It is their own catharsis. Lots join and leave after they get revenge on the sinner that killed them in life, others are much more devoted. There's no penalty for wanting to leave and no one gets their limbs amputated if they show a bit of weakness. The Exorcists are like a family bonded by blood in a way. As such, Abel is very protective of them because damn it, he won't let anyone hurt his angels again. Which is why the death of the angel hurt so much. PTSD overload for everyone involved. Not to mention a looming threat of what exactly caused it to happen. Vaggie was a girl that lived a tough life that ended in tragedy. In death, she was reborn into a fighter who wanted to take back the power that was taken from her. She found a sisterhood that would have been so good to have when she was alive and above all, she views Abel as a sort of personal savior. He had done so much for her during a tumultuous time, how could she ever repay him? And that's really what makes the other Exorcists so enamored by him. When you experience one of the worst crimes imaginable, who else would be better to understand your plight? You don't want to forgive or forget, you're angry. You're vulnerable and after spending so much time with said person, how could you not feel a certain way?  ++++++ Something that bugs me is that Vaggie feels like she's just Charlie’s GF. Her angel backstory feels tacked on. And in the song, the line “to be understood” doesn't hit as hard as it should. In my AU, this event happens way before Charlie meets Vaggie because I wanted to give Vaggie more agency as her own character. It explains where her fighting spirit came from as well as combining her old backstory with her new one. And I want to showcase the Exorcists as deeper characters instead of just sinner killers who are zealots because… they just are? Having a bone to pick is a valid enough motivation. Vaggie not having the X on her mask near the end of the vid was not a mistake. That was a flashback of her first Extermination Day getting back at the sinner that first killed her.
