Strada Degli Eroi - Road of Heroes (4k)

Although our absolute favourite trails are singletrack and downhill flow, nothing prepared us for the effort involved and just how emotionally incredible this ride would be. We both easily consider this as the most epic ride we have done to date, "Strada Degli Eroi", the "Road of Heroes," part of the "Strada Delle 52 Gallerie" trails. An incredible climb to 2115m above sea level through some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen with my own two eyes. This ride not only overwhelmed us with its sheer beauty, but when combined with the fact that it was a site of so much carnage, struggle and death during WWI and with the remnants of that still existing today, well lets just say the whole ride had us overflowing with emotions ranging from awe and excitement then on to apprehension and then relief to have made the summit, with the addition of sadness and respectful admiration for what these soldiers endured. Nature can be beautiful but in the depths of winter, these soldiers on both sides of the War would have been fighting two enemies, man and the elements. To edit and compile this video was a joy, such a memory for life that I had to spend the time to do it as much justice as I could possibly create. It was a long mission to complete and in a way I am actually a little sad that I have finally finished it.
