On 01 May 1982, the British commenced their operations against the Argentine forces on the Falkland Islands. This led to the reaction of the Argentine Air Force which attempted to establish air superiority in the theater. They relied on their Mirage III and Dagger fighters. The British side initially only had about 20 Sea Harriers which on paper seemed inferior to the Argentine Mirages in many aspects. But this view could be misleading.
