Let me remind you as you hear me yelling”put him in the wall” - I was 9 yrs old. Yes I wanted Ryan Newman to win. This moment to date was one of the scariest wrecks I’ve seen in the 6 years of attending the Daytona 500. You can hear me yelling “ Go Newman” and it all went wrong. We hung around for a while but had to leave because we needed to drive to Tampa that night for our flight home. We were supposed to go to Busch Gardens but because of the rain delay we did not but still has to fly out of there. My Moms phone wax blowing up with friends and family asking if he was ok. It seems tv watchers had more info because we couldn’t hear much. This was the longest , quietest drive we ever had. I think my Mom cried half of it thinking the worst. It was such a relief to see him walk out if the hospital with his two girls a few days later🙏🏻 It’s will be one race I’ll remember forever.
