STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES: Intense Dance Theatre Performance by X Sense Contemporary Dance Course Bangalore Indiranagar STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES is a dance theatre production. It’s performed by the 9th batch of the X SENSE contemporary dance course at FLUX. The production is directed by the founder Sahiba Singh, with assistant direction by Shyam Hemrom and Trish bramha U. The performance revolves around the idea of love and intimate relationships from the perspective of a child. The stories interweave nuanced and complex feelings of grief, confusion, seeking closure, anger, compassion, self inquiry, introspection, regret, shame and guilt. They also speak of a lot of things left unspoken, misunderstood and probably understood over time, if at all. It’s an immersive and intimate immersive performance. We have limited seating. Therefore we are performing at Flux on March 31st, April 1st and April 2nd at 8 pm. We look forward to seeing you there. About The Team: Sahiba Singh (Director: Dance Theatre Performance by X Sense Contemporary Dance Course Bangalore) Sahiba is a community builder, founder of Flux School of Arts. With a 2 decade long background in contemporary dance, Sahiba works deeply with the body and its natural flow. Her main work centers on expressive arts where she works with original narratives. They bring out human emotions and well as systemic problems at large. The stories are always depicted in a Dance-theater format. Sahiba’s second approach to expression and its benefits are tied to healing and is rooted in being trauma informed. She works with the body at the centre of all healing. She connects the gut and the brain to work effectively in bringing harmony within the thought and feelings trapped within. She likes to keep her approach anchored in scientific principles while knowing that intuition and creativity ace it all. Shyam Hemrom (Assistant Director: Dance Theatre Performance by X Sense Professional Contemporary Dance Course Bangalore) Shyam is an experienced dance choreographer. He got formal training in contemporary dance, jazz, freestyle, Bollywood, Latin(Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha-Cha) choreography and performance techniques. He Brings forth the ability to create innovative and inspiring dance sequences while serving as an effective instructor. Shyam is adept in acrobatic and movement designing classes, programs, and choreographed dances. These are the dances that focus on the development of strong technique, strength, and artistic interpretation. Shyam Hemrom is a senior instructor at FLUX and a faculty member in the X SENSE Professional Contemporary Dance Course. Trish Brahma U (Assistant Director: Dance Theatre Performance by X Sense Professional Contemporary Dance Course Bangalore) Trish started his movement journey as a martial artist. Then he moved on to be a gymnast. Finally he found himself to be a contemporary dancer after trying many other dance forms. It's been 2yrs since he started contemporary dance. Prior to starting his journey in contemporary dance, he was exposed to many other styles and forms of dancing. Trish says, “Contemporary dance gave me a bridge to connect my martial arts and gymnastics to create my unique style. This dance form has taught me to stay disciplined, in touch with my intuitive body awareness, and has been therapeutic” His journey in Flux started as a student. He then moved on to be a performer and then to an instructor. Finally he turned to be an assistant choreographer for the biannual X SENSE Professional Contemporary Dance Course Production. ABOUT X SENSE Professional Contemporary Dance Course Bangalore: X SENSE is an intensive professional contemporary dance training course with the focus on technique and choreography. The students train for 6 months before entering a production process. The production process is 3 months long and work towards process work and original narrative. The team for STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES includes dancers who started their X SENSE journey 9-10 months ago. Now, they will be finally on stage this April.
