As two people who are were new to the boardgaming hobby last year, we have learned a lot about Kickstarter, and in conversations with other people we also realized that there's a lot for them to learn as well. A lot of people who have never backed a kickstarter before may think it's like a preorder - that the campaign ends and you get your game shortly after. But that's not how it works at all!
