The Journey of Alaknanda River | Origins of GANGA: Part 1

Alaknanda is one of the two headstreams of the river Ganga / Ganges, the lifeline of India. Other one is Bhagirathi, and a similar video about Bhagirathi can be watched here:    • The Journey of Alaknanda River | Orig...   - QUICK NOTE: The photo of Rudraprayag shown in the video at 08:16 is actually of Devprayag. Had a little file management error, I guess. Sorry about that! - Like Ganga, Alaknanda has a massive influence in the region it flows around and has shaped the history and culture, as well as the terrain of this particular tract of Himalayas. Alaknanda flows in the hilly region of Garhwal division for the entirety of its 195 km long course. It originates at the confluence of Satopanth and Bhagirath Kharak Glacier in high Himalayas close to Badrinath-Mana, meets with 4 major tributaries ahead creating four of the five Panch Prayag in the process. At the fifth one, Alaknanda meets Bhagirathi at Devprayag at the end of its course, the river ahead is called Ganga. This video takes you on a journey from the source to the destination, with a lot more in between.
