Hij is een Nederlandse profvoetballer die meestal als aanvaller opereert. In juli 2022 zette hij zijn handtekening onder een contract bij FC Versailles 78, een voetbalclub uit Frankrijk actief op het derde Franse niveau. Lens heeft ook gespeeld voor PSV en AZ, en heeft op huurbasis zijn talenten getoond bij N.E.C., Fenerbahçe en Sunderland. Zijn debuut voor het Nederlands voetbalelftal maakte hij in augustus 2010.
