6th India Ideas Conclave New India - Turning to Roots, Rising to Heights February 28 - March 01, 2020 Narmada, Gujarat India Foundation is an independent research centre focussed on the issues, challenges and opportunities of the Indian polity. Among the various series of seminars and conferences India Foundation organizes, India Ideas Conclave is its annual flagship event. This conclave aims to bring together a luminary gathering of policy makers and public intellectuals from India and abroad to exchange opinions and ideas in a candid and scholarly atmosphere. The civilization of Bharat is resilient. From being the cradle of multiple religions, birth- place of hundreds of languages, art forms, and traditions, for as long as history remembers, India has pioneered both spiritual and scientific enquiry. Despite centuries of invasions and cultural vandalism, the people of India have never deterred from fighting back and asserting their identity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in one of his addresses had called for creating 'Sapno Ka Bharat' or 'Bharat of our Dreams' by 2022 marking the 75 years of independence. A Bharat where 1.3 billion Indians have to be equal stakeholders in the movement for development. A nation with values rooted in the ancient Indian cultural ethos with an approach that can accommodate the dynamic global challenges with changing times. The democratic process today is not merely limited to voting and winning elections but is also a reflection of the each and every citizens' enthusiasm towards nation-building. With these aspirations, enthusiasm and potential, it is imperative to discuss the characteristics, guiding principles and contours of New India. The deliberation over two and a half days will see public intellectuals from diverse fields of work and across the world engaging with each other to discuss the theme 'New India-Turning to Roots, Rising to Heights'. The comprehensive deliberations and brainstorming will bring out the ideological and policy values that the New India must be made of and must stand for.
