Weave Along 30: The ABCs of Tablet Weaving from 1457

A tablet weaving alphabet from 1457, courtesy of Catherine Weaver's book, Tablet Weaving in Theory and Practice: Double-Face Inscriptions with Lettering Based on the Mainz Psalter of 1457. She kindly gave me permission to use her pattern and demonstrate how it is done. All of her books are available from www.Blurb.com/user/Catheros. In particular, her double face inscriptions book is here: https://www.blurb.com/b/10482662-tabl.... ------------------------ The patterns I create or find on Pinterest are pinned to my board here:   / weave-along-with-elewys-patterns  . I will also post it on my blog. I've put some fishing swivels on my Amazon storefront which can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/shop/elewysoff.... I prefer the #3 brass swivels. If you wish to weight those cards rather than use swivels, I recommend about 100 grams of weight per card. Tying them on can be done with square knots, or you can try some fisherman's tricks that you can find here:    • How to Tie a Swivel to Your Fishing L...   Ellisif Gydasdottir's Speed Warping video:    • Speed Warping an Inkle Loom for Table...   Things people ask me about (affiliate links): I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Yarns: * Maysville Carpet Warp, which can be found at several different weaving supply places (I often use WEBS at www.yarn.com). It comes in more than 70 colors on an 800 yard spool for about $9, so it can be used in a number of projects and the price is very reasonable. * Maurice Brassard 8/2 cotton, which I purchased at https://woolery.com/maurice-brassard-.... It comes in 81 different colors and is really lovely to work with. * 20/2 or 60/2 silk from Eowyn de Weaver has recently moved her store from Etsy. Each cone is $30 and comes in 18 different colors. There are also small 100 yard spools that run $5 each and comes in more than 2 dozen colors. New web site! www.eowyndewever.com * Pearl cotton, size 8 or size 10 (or even 12, if you love to work with fine stuff), which can be found is most craft stores in a bunch of colors. Sewing: * I use 100% linen from Linen-Store.com in the IL019 weight for my tunics. The quality of their linen is very good, their prices are very reasonable and shipping is fast! Use "ILOVELINEN" in the discount code for an additional 7% off! Cards: * 2 1/2" wide (63 mm) made on a 3D printer, a pattern designed by my husband. Free downloadable patterns of other tablets are available on Thingiverse (this one is not my pattern--we are still working the kinks out of the design but these cards are Oseberg reproductions: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:180...) * 3 1/4" cards from Schacht Spindle Company, which run $8 for 25 cards. I love these because they are colored on the edges and they are thin but very durable. Similar cards are made by Lacis but without the colored edges. Tea. Earl Grey. Hot. All songs performed by Jon Sayles: http://www.jsayles.com/familypages/Ea.... Allon Gay Gay, Riu Riu Chu, O'Rosetta, and April is in my Mistress's Eyes.
