Achilles Video Series - Week 0: The Injury and What to Expect Video Series Description - Thanks for tuning in to this video series. Throughout the next year, I will be providing weekly updates of my recovery process. The purpose of these videos is to provide a live case study on the surgical rehab process in Canada for someone who is looking to return to competitive sports. I'm 34 years old and being treated in Canada. Summary - I ruptured my Achilles Tendon on June 3, 2020 and it took about 3 weeks to go through the hospital system, appointments, scheduling and I finally had my surgery June 26, 2020. One of the biggest decisions you will have to make is whether you want surgery performed or not. In some cases, the rupture may be too big and tendons too far apart, in which case surgery is the only option (greater than 2cm distance) but talk with your surgeon and make a decision together based on your circumstances. I will be providing an update later this week to show you Week 1 after surgery. I'll cover optimal nutrition for post-surgery recovery as well as advice to cope with the pain the first few days.
