30/12/2023 We’re going to pretend this isn’t late, okay? 6 years after I filmed First Berkshire 37999 on the 702, I am back on it after the rebrand from Greenline to The London Line with this new order. This is a revival of an old name once used by Reading Transport for its London coach routes. It coincides with the 703 becoming Flightline, another old name used by London Country plus Alder Valley and Southdown Motor Services, for which it has received an identical batch The interior spec is impressive. However I do wonder how long the engines will last before they’re worn out from constant high speed motorway thrashage. The B9TLs First used were much more appropriate for this! At the same time, I do acknowledge that Reading Buses aren’t exactly spoiled for choice, with the ADL bodied Scanias they initially wanted being discontinued and ZF gearbox no longer offered on the E40D chassis. Optare took too long with the Metrodeckers, so they were cancelled And believe it or not, the £2 single cap IS accepted and issued on the 702 all the way to Central London!
