Italian Tango 1941: A. Rabagliati & Orch. Barzizza - Ho perduto i tuoi baci [Gone Are Your Kisses]

Alberto Rabagliati & Orch. Barzizza - Ho perduto i tuoi baci (Gone Are Your Kisses) Tango (G.D’anzi – A. Bracchi), Cetra 1940 (Italian) NOTE: This song is an expression of my love for Italy especially now, when Milan is suffering from a record-breaking flash flood in 170 years that has swept away people and vehicles and turned the city's streets into lakes and rivers. May God protect you all! NOTE 2: Alberto RABAGLIATI (b. 1906 in Milan – d. 1974 in Rome) one of the classic names in the history of Canzone Italiana. At the age of 21 he won a Rodolfo Valentino look-alike contest and went to Hollywood where he stayed for four years. His film career never took off, but instead he made fruitful musical acquaintances and learned modern singing, including scat and jazz. This enabled him to occupy a privileged position in the pop music of 1930s Italy. He sang with Pippo Barzizza's jazz orchestra and joined the Lecuona Cuban Boys for some time, where he performed in blackface. From 1940 he signed with the powerful Italian broadcast EIAR, which made him a radio star, and from 1941 he had his own program Canta Rabagliati. His popularity was such that, despite World War II, the fascist government tolerated his performances of American-style hits, and his song "Sposi (c'è una casetta piccina)" ("Bride and groom, there is a tiny little house”) became a demographic campaign anthem. After the war, Rabagliati also starred in about 20 movies and was on stage in numerous musical comedies. His last appearance was in tv show in 1974. Soon thereafter he died of cerebral thrombosis. The slideshow shows several posters from the golden era of Italian poster art, depicting some beautiful women who took their kisses with them and left.
