Moore & Wright 405 Surface Gauge / Scribe Block Full Restoration - Inc Machining & Black Phosphate.

The Moore & Wright 405 surface gauge / Scribe block is a very common tool found in the engineering workshop. I was given this Moore and Wright 405 surface gauge / Scribe Block and decided to give it a full restoration So I could use it in my Home workshop; And believe me it needed a restoration. A surface gauge / Scribe block is a piece of precision workshop equipment used for measuring and marking out. It is often used to hold a Dial Test Indicator or a marking out scribe. I typically use it for holding the Dial Test Indicator. Restoring the Moore and Wright 405 has brought it back into allowable limits and is now a trusted tool in the workshop. The bottom surface has been surface ground to ensure it is totally flat. All the the moving parts of the Surface Gauge / Scribe Block have been stripped, cleaned, black phosphate coated for corrosion protection and re assembled. Some new parts were turned on the lathe to replace some damaged parts of the Surface Gauge / Scribe Block as well as replacing some of the non standard parts.
