3rd June 2013. Hand lining for mackerel with a loop with lures, in full swing 10 minutes into the video. Fishing from 4.30 am through to about 6.30 through sunrise, adding lance (sand eel) as bait to boost the fishing once it starts to fall off. Nigel explains as he fishes why he does things the way he does. The usual cautions - the aim to provide a good sense of catch rates, bycatch (2 herring) and discards (none), so intentionally has long unbroken sequences rather than action cuts (though there are plenty of fish being caught). However it is a tranquil sea and a lovely dawn, for those who want to soak up the experience; for fishing nuts; or those who need to watch the whole thing to draw independent conclusion. For those who want to skim, Nigel first talks about various aspects of the fishing as we go out to the mark, a couple of miles down the coast from the Helford mooring; then prepares, putting a layer of water on the deck to stop the fish being damaged and help bleed and clean the fish. The fishing is in full swing at 4.45 am, 10.00 minutes into the video, and Nigel has switched to lance bait to reinvigorate the catch rate by 38m 00s, and there is a shot at Kernow Sashimi of the landed catch starting 44.25.
