The expense ratio for an ETF is usually lower than that of a mutual fund or FoFs, because ETFs are typically passive investments that track an index. When a FoF invests in an ETF as an underlying asset, the expense ratio for the ETF is an additional cost that is passed on to the investor. This means that the expense ratio for a Fund of Funds that invests in ETFs may actually be higher than the expense ratio for an ETF on its own.
