Ludwig van Beethoven: Bagatelle No.1 in Eb (Op.33) [1782, rev.1802]

Two-decades between the Revision-dates and Everyone still plays the first Bagatelle too fast… ‘Grazioso’ not ‘Exciting-oso’ which this is introspective music is not an Exhibitional-Display of. The high tempo choices by everyone including —xxxxxx— leads to zero-singing of any opening melodic line, therefore boring the listener with soulless mechanics, a lot of ignored rests in the LH, and nobody brings attention from to realizing and rounding-out what Beethven meant by writing sF’s in the opening passage at pianissimo means to do with the cadence and Harmony - moreso the tempo and style change, supported by the composer description. Half the passages are single-lines for both hands, so something more needs to be done than playing the correct succession of notes in a timely manner. The suprise ending is possibly the one point a player might be acceptably push tempos to a higher limit and some form of Redemption found, but sadly this last moment of Salvation is again missed by nearly all. ‘Quasi-Allegro’ is preceded by a comma, implying the second section with the sF’s could be more lively. When this section is over, that is the return to an ‘Andante grazioso’ style and tempo. Few reach the table’s foot which Beethoven’s spirit sits and the remaining souls wander in the kitchen attempting to identify basic cooking ingredients. I am trying to eat not cook.
