President Joe Biden & First Lady Jill Biden Depart on Air Force One for Queen Elizabeth II's Funeral

On Saturday September 17, 2022, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden departed the White House for Joint Base Andrews via Marine One to board Air Force One for a trip to London to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. This trip occurred during the Saturday edition of the 2022 Joint Base Andrews Air & Space Expo, and is not the first time any sitting president during an airshow at Andrews. Zinger Aviation Media has, in the past, covered Presidential movements during an airshow at Joint Base Andrews with Presidents Bush and Obama as the sitting president at the time. What you see here is EXCLUSIVE VIDEO. When the President flies and there is an airshow occurring at Andrews, the entire base goes into a lockdown. For a period of time, a ground and air freeze is put into effect; there are absolutely NO MOVEMENTS taking place ANYWHERE where the President or Vice President are expected. I heavily emphasize there are no movements. If you are on foot, you are expected to stay within the confines of your immediate area and surroundings. If you are in a vehicle you must come to a complete stop no matter where you are. The same applies if you are in an aircraft and on the ground. The airspace in and around you is also closed and sterilized. This ensures priority movement of the VIPs. All airshow activities cease, the ramp locks down, security forces whom are armed to the teeth (see my video from 2009) line the crowd line at certain intervals, a U.S. Park Police Huey patrols the area before Marine One plus additional assets arrive. Typically during the airshow, the public will see Marine One arrive from a distance and no photo or video is permitted towards the Presidential ramps and hangars. All of the behind the scenes stuff takes place, Air Force One departs along with any additional aircraft serving as backups or carrying additional media or guests, the VH-3D Sea Kings depart back to home base, and the ground, ramp, and air freeze is lifted and the airshow proceeds. I was well aware that there would be a ground freeze taking place that day due to the extraordinary world events that had been in the news since September 8, 2022. My assumption that the freeze was a Presidential movement was backed up and confirmed with the publishing of the official public Presidential schedule that is shared by multiple media outlets online. The thinking was, going into the weekend, I would be duplicating video that I had shot in 2005 and 2009 with the VC-25, up until the night before, where it was brought to my attention via a friend and colleague that plans were in place to film the President departing Joint Base Andrews. Even though I was skeptical about this actually coming to fruition, my colleague provided contact information that morning, and a plan was already in place. I met up with my contact with the 89th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office and we discussed what was going to be done, where I'd be filming from, and met up with the United States Secret Service Agent in Charge prior to the President's arrival. What you see is the first time ANYONE related to the Andrews Airshow was allowed to cover this via photo or video. The video consists of movements one could not see from the airshow flight line if one was at the airshow, showing the Huey mentioned earlier, the arrival of the HMX-1 "Knighthawks" VH-3D Sea Kings and of course Marine One. One part of the video is shaky as I attempted to take photos while filming. You'll see President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden exit Marine One and walk towards the Boeing VC-25A that will gain the callsign of Air Force One and board the aircraft. The White House Press Pool is also seen in the video and you will also see them board via the rear of the VC-25A. This is important to note as Press and VIPs sit in the back of the aircraft, and can wander aft of their seat but never forward. The aircraft then taxis out, along with a backup Boeing C-32A. The video ends with Air Force One and SAM46 departing from Joint Base Andrews via Runway 1L. No VH-3D Sea King movements after the two 89th AW aircraft departed were filmed as I had to get back to show center.
