The pattern makers vise shown: https://bit.ly/3BmTqdo A pattern makers vise (also known as a luthiers vise) is a great addition to your woodworking shop. Why? It mounts to almost any wood shop workbench, and only requires a single hole to mount. When you're done, just remove it and store it until you need it again. A wood vise for a carver need capacity, too, and this is great because it opens up to 5-5/8", plus the vise jaw turrets pivot to hold oddly-shaped workpieces as well. This particular vise is from Grizzly Industrial, and it weighs in at about 30lbs and is made of cast-iron and steel. The vise jaws are a rubberized material that has a wood backer. The rubber surface on a pattern makers vise is meant to help conform to a workpiece and keep from marring the surface finish of something like a guitar neck or fishing net, like I show in the video. Overall, this thing is stout and very easy to use, and I really like that, when not in use, I can store it out of the way.
