Filmed on 21/12/2022. So, this is it. The season finale of which this years Christmas Special brings us to one of Scotland seven cities. It is the northern terminus of the East Coast Mainline linking through to London Kings Cross via York. Yes, this is Edinburgh Waverley (Season 9 Episode 43) Since our last visit back in 2018, there has been quite a few changes and with these changes still being made today. For example: The ScotRail InterCity7 HST sets are having a fifth carriage added to their fleet to increase the compacity on the routes. More and more of the Hitachi class 385's are also making good runs in and out of Edinburgh and Glasgow. Still with ScotRail is their class 170 Turbostar units which some have transferred across to Northern and to East Midlands Railway. These are still common with in and out workings out of Edinburgh. Avanti West Coast are still operating services linking services between Edinburgh to London Euston via Birmingham New Street. Some of these services are making additional stops at Stafford to connect via Birmingham.
