Fitting the Mackworth Beech Hammock sling (with head support). Please note: Slings should be selected following a full risk assessment by a competent person. Fitting should be in accordance with moving and handling guidelines and techniques. If the patient has reduced mobility and is unable to lean to the side during the fitting of the sling, a second carer can assist. The pommel of the Mackworth Beech sling has a number of loop selections to feed the lifting strap through. Shorter loop selection results in the middle of the sling lifting higher, this will splay the user’s legs and rotate the legs outwards. The longer selection lowers the sling and brings the knees together. Loops selected should be in accordance with the user’s individual moving and handling plan.
