PERFECT Writing Routine To Get Rid Of Writer’s Block Forever (10 Min/Day)

In this video, I share an approachable, or what I like to also call "perfect" writing routine that has helped me get rid of writer's block. Best Screenwriting Books: https://amzn.to/3DVR9sz What I use in my video: Artlist for royalty-free music: https://bit.ly/3rA67MI (get 2 extra months) I was curious to see what science says about writer's block. To my surprise, there was a lot of research that showcased innovative approaches to help access specific brain states that elicit creativity. Apparently, our brain favors certain types of work at different times of the day, as well as in different locations and in a different light. I’m going to share what I learned and then combine all the takeaways into a perfect writing routine that should rid me of writer's block, but also hopefully help me with story breakthroughs. Personally, I am passionate about screenwriting and movie scripts. If you would like to learn more about my journey of trying to become a full-time screenwriter, then you can check out this video:    • How I Went from PASS to RECOMMEND   Resources: Universal Principles of Design, Revised and Updated: https://www.google.com/books/edition/... Optimizing Workspace for Productivity, Focus, & Creativity | Huberman Lab Podcast #57 :    • Optimizing Workspace for Productivity...   But here’s how I would bundle up the content that I'm sharing in this video, I’m not a neuroscientist, however, I have drawn from the science to come up with a pretty ideal writing routine that doesn’t have to be a long at all to address the tough space I may be in creatively. Let me explain… If I’m in a pickle with either an area of my story or I’m all out of ideas, the main goal will be to create a space that seems approachable. I’m usually really down when I feel like my story has fizzled out and I find that I have little motivation to do anything, so the last thing I feel like doing is committing to a large portion of time to face my story problems. So, creating a 10-minute window to approach the writer's block or story problem doesn’t seem all that scary. I mean, you can do anything for 10 minutes. So I’ll schedule a 10-minute session in the afternoon, in a room that has somewhat of a high ceiling, with natural light pouring through the windows, and my overhead light off. I’ll open my mind to brainstorming ideas and I’ll write this down in a journal, with no judgement. I have found that I can go much longer than 10 minutes, but the 10-minute mark is a gateway to more time if I need it, and it’s also a nice whole number to stop at should I feel like I’ve come up with an idea or two that I like. What I’m trying to say is that there’s no pressure and it’s a baby step at facing a problem I would have otherwise ignored. I won’t try and fix my work at this moment, I’ll save the actual editing and detail work for the next morning as I approach phase one. Whether it is science that makes tapping into creativity possible, or the fact that I sat down and did the work, well it doesn’t really bother me as long as there is some sort of breakthrough. #writingroutine #writingmotivation #writersblock DISCLAIMER - If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission.
