Naval Gazing at Camp David - Episode X - Dufour Catamaran 48

Dave Score Survey - Share Your opinion here: https://forms.office.com/r/4iwLPMLk2e Dufour 48 Catamaran Welcome back to Naval Gazing at Camp David, the channel where men who want to do a post retirement circumnavigation try to convince their beautiful, but sceptical, wives that this is a fantastic idea. This week’s guest yacht is a beautiful vessel that I was, first sad to see discontinued, shortly after Fountaine Pajot bought Dufour, and then elated when the Dufour Catamaran shipyard, located in Forli Italy, was sold to a Croatian company who relaunched the model and has since added an equally beautiful smaller version, the Cervetti 44. We are talking about The Dufour Catamaran 48! The new owner is financially backed up by Fozzy Group, whose yearly turnover amounted to 2.1 billion EUR in 2019. Fozzy Group is one of the largest trade industrial groups in Ukraine and one of the leading Ukrainian retailers, with over 500 outlets all around the country. Today we are going to 1. Review its specifications, pricing and layout against three similar new vessels 2. Do a full tour asking, “What would Sylvia say?” 3. Naval Gaze at an innovation and/or adjustment that might make life aboard easier 4. Have a look at the used market for 3-5 year old comparables 5. And finally give it a “Dave Score” and compare the result with all our previously reviewed yachts. As always, we have a wine pairing with our yacht of choice and this week we head to the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna which covers 83 hectares of vineyards in the province of Forlì-Cesena and is named after its capital. Our guest wine is: Umberto Cesari Liano Sangiovese - Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicone During a 2005 trip to Bologna, writer John Grisham was so taken with Liano that he mentioned it in his book, The Broker, calling it a fantastic wine This blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in vineyards averaging 15 years of age and yielding 75 quintals per hectare, is a wine of superb complexity and character. It ferments in specialised temperature-controlled tanks, with a lengthy maceration on the skins, followed by 18 months in 550-litre Allier oak casks and a further 6 months bottle-ageing. This 16,000-grain unit supplies approximately 40% more soft water than any other unit on the market. It regenerates with just two boxes of common table salt in a process that takes less than 30 minutes. Its compact, patent-pending design allows it to be installed in the tightest of places. The On The Go softener prevents the build-up of scale, eliminates rust stains, and improves taste and odor. o Clearsource Ultra PROTECTION AGAINST VIRUSES, BACTERIA, AND CYSTS. We’ve reengineered our top-of-the-line Ultra ™ systems with new, Clearsource-exclusive VirusGuard ™ filters that use NASA-developed technology to remove or reduce not just bacteria and cysts, but viruses. No other Marine water filter on the market provides anything close to that level of protection. Comparison: https://1drv.ms/p/s!Aj8F6UDGbsSkmdxVz... Wine: https://umbertocesari.com/en/prodotto...
